Sara Sabry

Sara Sabry is the first Egyptian astronaut, first Arab woman in space, and the first African woman to reach space. As founder and executive director of the Deep Space Initiative (DSI), she advocates for accessible space exploration opportunities for all. A Mechanical and Biomedical Engineer currently pursuing a PhD in Aerospace Sciences, Sara conducts research at the NASA-funded UND Humanspaceflight lab, with expertise in Mechatronics, Robotic Surgery, Stem Cell Development, and Bioastronautics. She is also a certified yoga instructor and CrossFit coach, emphasizing health and wellness. An international speaker, Sara shares her journey to space, the role of space tech in addressing climate challenges, and her advocacy for inclusivity in the space industry. Her humanitarian work spans volunteering across Africa in women’s empowerment, education, and marine conservation. Sara’s contributions have earned her multiple awards, including the IAF Emerging Space Leader and STEAM Innovation awards, and recognition in global media like CNN, Forbes, and BBC
